A local Emmett man was recently killed in a semi-truck accident Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. just outside of Emmett, Idaho, near Sand Hollow Road.
Idaho State Police reported that the accident victim, J.R. Wilde, 66, was driving northbound in a Nissan Altima before suddenly veering into oncoming traffic. The Altima immediately crashed head-on with a large tractor-trailer.
The driver of the semi-truck, Daniel Caldwell, of Nampa, Idaho, was driving south on Highway 16 before the Altima crossed the center line.
Wilde succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
Police also commented that Wilde was not wearing a seatbelt at the scene of the accident.
