Two people were killed Friday morning in a head-on crash in Soda Springs, ID. At around 7 a.m., Idaho State Police were called to the scene of a two-car collision just west of the Idaho-Wyoming state border.
Richard Lee, 63, and his wife Cheryl Lee, 63, of New Zealand, were driving eastbound in a Dodge travel van on Highway 34 when their vehicle suddenly swerved into the center lane.
The 2018 Dodge travel van drifted right into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 1993 Kenworth semi-pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck, Michael Garvin, 62, of Idaho Falls, was driving a commercial vehicle with a trailer attached to the back.
The condition of the other driver, Garvin, has not yet been reported. It was reported that the Lee couple succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident.
Their family was notified later that day.
The highway was blocked for several hours due to the incident while police directed traffic into one lane.
